Left hut HTG at 8 and surprised at how deserted the village was. From the Waitomo village the track is mostly over farmland with some gorse and bush. Mostly in pretty good shape.
I found again today that I simply don’t have the energy I usually have when going up hills. I was way better 3 days ago when I did Pirongia.
So I’ve decided to have a day or two off. Now at Marakopa to do a bit of whitebaiting while my body mends itself.
The whitebait for dinner tonight was delicious.
Very surprised that Hamilton is in Level 3 lockdown. So heading back home for a rest is not an option.
It was great to have some sun today for the first time. Actually got down to a T shirt. Looking forward to a lot more of that.
No cell phone coverage here (Marakopa) on Skinny or 2Degrees but there is supposed to be Vodafone here. Not sure why 2Degrees isn’t working.
