An easy day with no views due to the weather.
It rained overnight and the clouds were low but dry when we set out this morning. A few km up the road then a big climb up to the Spark cellphone tower. The clouds were low so we couldn’t see much. The rest of the day was more road walking and a bit of bush. Arrived at Merrivale Hut at 3 and had a relaxed couple of hours. This is a cool little Hut that a farmer has built. It has 5 mattresses and costs $10. Not bad value really.
Tomorrow is our last night in a DOC hut.
