I am so loving this area.
Again first to leave at 7.30am for the climb to MacKinnon Pass. As expected it was totally clagged when I got there so I just kept going. So glad that I climbed up there yesterday afternoon while it was clear.
The track descended pretty steeply down to the guided walker’s Quinon Lodge where there is a room (shelter) with hot water and coffee for us Freedom walkers.
Left my pack the there and did the one hour return trip to the Sutherland Falls, the highest waterfall in NZ. They are indeed spectacular.
Less than an hour got me to Dumpling Hut for tonight. I relaxed in the sun for a while.
This track has exceeded my expectations on almost every measure.
Tomorrow is a short and easy walk to Sandfly Point where we get a short boat ride to Milford.
