Telford Campsite to Birchwood

12/1/22, Day 82, 30km, Total 2051km

Elevation Gain: 858, Loss: 1162m

All day through one farm. Amazing and pleasant.

Left the campsite at 7 with a French girl who thought she might have trouble navigating her way through Linton Station. Karen 5 had fed us horror stories of how it was really poorly marked and it took her 11 hours. Turned out the navigation was easy and it took us 8 hours.

The farm owner has issues with TA walkers if the signs are anything to go by.

We chatted to one farm worker who was shifting a mob of sheep. He was very friendly.

Linton Station is supposedly the largest backcountry station in NZ. We were on the it for 29 of the 30 km we walked today.

Once again we were lucky to have an overcast day as we were in open country. A cloudless day would have baked us.

We are staying in the old Birchwood Station shearers quarters. It has hot showers and electricity. Such luxury. We can also get a free shuttle to the pub for dinner. Wow.
