A gentle start to the new section.
We spent 3 hours on the shuttle from Queenstown to the Greenstone Carpark and started walking at 11.
Three hours later we arrived at the Greenstone Hut. A new and large hut. So tempting to stay but decided we could cope with another 3-4 hours of walking to the Taipo Hut. Arrived at 5.30pm.
It’s a very small hut with only 4 bunks but in a beautiful spot.
We are both (Dennis and I) feeling really good and looking forward to a shorter day tomorrow.
Met a few NOBO hikers today. Some started in Bluff only 10 days ago. We aren’t that fast but shows how close we are to the end of the South Island.
