8/11/21, Day 30, 9 kms, Total 825km
Elevation Gain:1321, Loss: 467
A short but very strenuous day.
The sign at the hut said 5hrs for 3km to the Junction knob. That meant some serious up hill walking. Left the hut at 6.45am and got to the junction close to 5hrs later. It was a very steep and narly climb.
Was cool to get above the bush line on a sunny day with only a gentle breeze.
Disturbed 3 goats that were sunning themselves on the track.
Nichols hut is the smallest I’ve stayed in but is in a neat spot with magic views to the east. The only downside is no cellphone reception. Oh, and no stool to sit on. Wishing I still had my chair.
I arrived at the hut at 1.30 so again it’s good to have some time to lie in the sun.
Eh. Must be steep going Another cool swing bridge to start the day I wonder if the H means hill The mosses look cool Lots of moss. So green Even the trees have lots of moss I started way down there this morning Rugged country The goats I disturbed Eh. 2hours down and 5 up? That’s why I feel stuffed Having lunch and contemplating the last big climb for today It’s a long way down in some places The hut I’m heading to Tomorrow’s challenge Funny notice in the hut Nichols Hut I found a flower
