A pleasant days walking.
Left Island Bay at 8.00am and had no trouble getting busses and train to Waikanae. Found a café and indulged in another big breakfast and a coffee. Hmmm. Nice. Set me up for the day.
Left Waikanae at 10.30am and 2.5 hours later came to the end of the road.
Arrived at hut at 6.30. It’s a pretty rough old hut and does not deserve to be called a Lodge. But it’s warm and dry.
Another couple staying here who have just come in for one night from Otaki.
On the walk over the hills today there was a pretty good view out over Otaki from the highest point of 800 metres. Apart from that it was just a nice walk in the bush.
