Wanganui to Whangaehu

21/10/2021

Day 17, 21km, Total km: 506
Elevation Gain: 215, Loss: 301
Trial walk to see how the shin is.
Went with Colin to Sanson for hot chocolate and a famous cream horn at Viv’s Kitchen. Very nice and extremely popular.
Got dropped at Whangaehu and walked back to Wanganui. Slack packing (no pack) was really good.
All road walking today plus I went down in the 102 year old Drurie Hill elevator.
Thanks to the compression sleave my leg was fine. It is a real relief to know I can still walk a reasonable distance without aggravating it.

Tomorrow I’ll focus on planning and prep for the next sections to Palmerston North and then Wellington via the Tararuas. Then maybe head off on Saturday. I’ll be off to see Rob and George again for more advice. They are legends.
