A good “easy” day.
Another nice sunny morning although a very serious frost. Left at 7 and made good time to Waihohonu Hut for breakfast.
Both Ngaruahoe and Ruapehu looking spectacular with the fresh snow.
The hike from Waihohonu to Rangipo reminded me of the first time I did the Round The Mountain (RTM) trip around 2003 with Hayley (oldest daughter). When we got to Waihohonu we both had blisters but mine seemed to cover the soles of both feet. Very painful. I’ve learned a lot since then and my pack is probably half the weight now.
This hut also has a really good fire and heaps of firewood so another nice warm night in while very cold out.
Cell phone coverage here is poor on both Spark and Vodafone so having a lot of trouble uploading the Blogs.
